Scaling Up

Scaling Up is a physics-based platformer that was developed for the Game Maker’s Toolkit Game Jam 2024. It consists of a player-controlled square robot that has to roll and jump to navigate to the top of a hazardous linear level. The player can collect gadgets to help overcome obstacles, while enemy robots chase and try to slow the player down. Once found, the gadgets can be attached to slots on the four faces of the player robot, whereas enemy robots try to attach themselves to take up your limited slots.

As the sole designer on the team, I built and scripted the game with art and audio assets provided by the other team members. My work included player controls, AI for the enemies, level design, mechanics for all the gadgets, and a system for attaching the gadgets.
